To conduct research in the Northwest Territories researchers need at least one of the following three research licenses.

• Wildlife Research Permit,
• Archaeologists Permit and/or
• Scientific Research License 

Researchers are advised to submit licensing applications at least 3 months prior to the planned start date of fieldwork.
